Tipping Point UK is looking for an experienced digital communications specialist with the skills and flair to share powerful stories about the amazing grassroots-led organising, actions and project that we support.

We’re looking for an exceptional communicator adept at managing and producing a range of email, website, graphics and social media content. You will have a deep commitment to grassroots climate justice organising and be passionate about helping our team to empower more people into collective action for climate, racial, social and migrant justice. 

Location: Flexible, remote working from anywhere in the UK with occasional travel required. The candidate must reside in the UK and have permission to work in the UK.

Contract:  21 hours / 3 days per week, renewed annually.

Care & Compensation Package: 

Regardless of role or level of experience, all Tipping Point staff are contracted on the same terms and conditions and paid an equitable compensation rate. We have a 4 day work-week and currently salary rates are £32,000-£36,000 for a 4 day week, prorated depending on days worked.

For this role, on 3 days per week, your salary would be between £24,000-£27,000 depending on your personal circumstances.

Main responsibilities

You will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies and projects that enhance Tipping Point’s visibility and engagement with supporters and grassroots groups. 

This role includes managing email campaigns, maintaining the website, creating social media content, designing graphics, and overseeing editorial content across the organisation. You will also share these skills with the team and our grassroots supporters, for example through trainings and skillshares. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of our work to build a stronger and more intersectional climate movement, including a familiarity with organising on fossil finance, climate reparations, new oil & gas and international solidarity, and will have the expertise needed to communicate our mission effectively across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Email:
    • Develop and manage email strategy to keep supporters informed and engaged.
    • Coordinate with and support staff to gather content and send regular communication through newsletters.
    • Lead on all individual fundraising communications to existing and potential supporters. 
    • Analyse email performance and adjust strategies to staff support to improve email engagement and reach.
  2. Website:
    • Maintain and update the organisation’s website to ensure it showcases all relevant projects and resources.
    • Help project teams to maintain and update their websites.
    • Ensure content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with organisational messaging.
    • Troubleshoot minor website issues and make necessary updates using Divi for WordPress and basic HTML/CSS.
  3. Social Media:
    • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase the online presence of our activities.
    • Create and schedule engaging content for main organisational social media accounts
    • Coordinate and support staff organisers to create engaging content.
    • Monitor social media performance and adjust strategies based on analytics.
  4. Graphic Design:
    • Support the wider team with the creation of visuals and multimedia content on Canva.
    • Support teams with the development of brands for campaigns and projects.
    • Design graphics for various platforms to promote projects and resources.
    • Maintain our visual identity guidelines and ensure all designs adhere 
  5. Editorial Oversight:
    • Oversee the creation, scheduling and publication of all external communications.
    • Ensure consistency in tone, style, and messaging across different channels.
    • Edit and proofread content to maintain high standards of quality.
  6. Training:
    • Develop and run trainings for grassroots activists to improve their communications. 
  7. Organisational development
    • Participation in our Comms Working Group and other full team internal meeting spaces. 
    • Work with Funding Working Group to develop regular communications for individual donors that maintains and grows our financial independence.

  4. Website Management:
    • Demonstrated ability in website management and content updates.
    • Proficiency with content management systems such as WordPress & Divi.
    • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for minor website tweaks and troubleshooting.
    • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency on the website.
  5. Social Media Strategy and Content Creation:
    • Ability to develop and implement social media strategies.
