We're heading to court to win climate justice for all.
It’s time to step up
We’ve seen how climate action can deliver justice in the form of cleaner air, cheaper energy and healthier communities. Yet action is stalling just as flooding, wildfires and heatwaves get worse.
Airport expansion and massive new oil fields like Rosebank are still on the table, whilst green promises are dropped.
The UK isn’t doing its fair share to protect people at home or abroad. We need our government to step up – because delay now means disaster later for even more of us.
Every community deserves a chance to survive and thrive. Every decision we make now locks in the future our children will inherit.
- We’re aiming for at least 10,000 people standing with us by the time our case comes to court in 2026. Please join us! 55%

ABOUT THE PEOPLE’S CLIMATE JUSTICE CASE
MEET THE CLAIMANTS
Tipping Point is one of three co-claimants. Together we represent millions of frontline communities and people fighting for climate justice around the UK
We’re a small cooperative that exists to build the power of ordinary people organising for climate justice on all fronts. We’re bringing this challenge on behalf of all the grassroots groups we support. Everyone everywhere has a right to live in safe and thriving communities. Yet they’re being failed by a government that is unwilling to do what’s needed to secure our homes, produce affordable renewable energy or do its fair share of climate action to protect our children’s future and the billions worldwide facing climate disasters.
THE LEGAL CHALLENGE
We’re working with our solicitors and legal experts at the Good Law Project to challenge the UK government’s climate change framework under human rights law.
Whilst the UK has taken some important strides forward on climate, there remain some gaping holes in the UK’s plans to keep global heating below the safe limit of 1.5C.
Rosebank. Airport expansion. Broken funding promises to name just a few.
We’ll argue that, to avoid breaching our human rights and endangering the lives of billions around the world, the UK government has a duty to do more to tackle the climate crisis.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who are the claimants?
Tipping Point UK is a co-claimant in the case alongside Save Hemsby Coastline & SOS- UK.
We are working in partnership with the Good Law Project and the Global Legal Action Network on the public campaign around this case and our solicitors are Leigh Day.
What grounds is the legal case being brought on?
This case is the first step towards a judicial review of the government’s climate framework. Whilst the UK has taken some important strides forward on climate, there remain some gaping holes in the UK plans to keep global heating below the safe limit of 1.5C.
We’ll argue that, to avoid breaching our human rights, the UK government has a duty to do more to tackle the climate crisis – and this involves doing our ‘fair share’ globally.
Why is Tipping Point involved?
We’re bringing this challenge on behalf of all the grassroots groups we support because everyone everywhere has a right to live in safe and thriving communities. Like us, they’re feeling failed by a government that seems unwilling to do what’s needed to secure our homes, produce affordable renewable energy or protect our children’s future.
They want a government that will prioritise people’s right to a safe future instead of listening to expanding airports, approving more oil and gas or pandering to the far right’s misinformation war on climate and migration.
We want our involvement in this case to uplift the stories of communities all over the UK and around the world already facing the impacts of the climate crisis – from energy poverty and poor insulation, to flooded homes and livelihoods ruined by extreme weather disruption.
Ultimately we want to see a bolder UK climate framework that protects people and communities, and holds accountable the UK companies like BP and Shell who knowingly keep worsening the hurricanes, heatwaves and flooding we see every week now.
We believe this case will highlight the stakes of the climate crisis for everyone. We will use this moment to showcase the massive popular support there is for the UK to show bold leadership on the world stage by doing our fair share to fix the climate crisis and owning the UK’s responsibility to deliver climate justice.
How do I support the case?
You can support the case by adding your name above to show the government there is overwhelming public support for stronger climate action and climate justice.
If you are authorised to act on behalf of a local group, community group or organisation, please register your Group’s Support here.
If you’re able, you can also become a monthly supporter of Tipping Point.
As a small cooperative, we rely on regular donations to continue our work. We’re supporting hundreds of grassroots groups each year to build enough power and resilience to win climate reparations and dismantle the systemic racial, social and economic injustices that fuel the climate crisis.
The costs of the legal challenge are being funded by a crowdfunder run by Good Law Project which you can support here.
What's the timeline?
We’re in the early stages of bringing our case against the Government and awaiting their response to the claim submitted in September 2025. The case is expected to go to court in 2026 and potentially run into 2027.
